It
all started 30 years ago when Floyd Decker selectively harvested the
forests of Central New York using a horse to bring the logs out of the
woods. It wasn't long before he was managing operations for a local
mill. He had the reputation for understanding wood, one that led the
late U.S. Senator Moynihan to ask Decker to manage his private lands.
Today,
the Decker Group has evolved
into three timber operations,
employs 42 people and is located on a 21-acre site in Bainbridge, NY:
- Annual
Production: 5 million board
feet
-
Two Dry Kilns - 50,000-bf capacity
-
Drying 42% of production
-
Wholesale and Retail Markets: distribution yards, concentration yards,
cabinetmakers, furniture manufacturers,
flooring manufacturers, architectural
and industrial users, homeowners and hobbyists.
-
Exporting to: Canada, Mexico, Europe, Pacific Rim, Asia and South
America.
